Waterfall at Blue Mountain

Canon Powershot A75, F/3.2, 0.5s,
Waterfall at Blue Mountain

I am still trying hard to get a good picture of waterfall. Understand the need to control the shuttle speed in order to get a 'fog like' water effect. Tripod is a must in order to achieve that kinds of effect unless your harnd is super steady.

Sunset at Uluwatu, Bali

Canon Powershot A75, F/5.6, 1/1000s,
Sunset at Uluwatu, Bali

Ahh... Bali, another place that I would like to go again someday. Interesting places like Tanah Lot, Uluwatu, Kintamani bring back great memories. Too bad I did not manage to cover the entire island during my last trip. But I vow to come back one day but for now here is a picture of Uluwatu's sunset :)

Black Hmong, Sapa Vietnam

D40, F/5.6, 1/160s, 55mm,
Black Hmong, Sapa Vietnam

This woman here is from the Black Hmong minority in Sapa. She is in fact my local tour guide’s mum. I was in Vietnam during Christmas last year and went to a few places namely Hanoi, Halong Bay and Sapa. Out of these places, I love Sapa the most. The cool temperatures with their friendly and conversant people are really a great company to be with. For nature lover, this is the place for you. You get to see terrace and terrace of paddy fields, incredible mountain view and some really nice waterfalls. Livestock such as pig, horses and cattle wander freely and greet you with their reeking whiff
Too bad the place is getting touristy as I write now but still this is one the place one must visit to truly see how diversified Vietnam is!

Temple of Heaven, Beijing

Canon Powershot A75, F/5.6, 1/500s,
Temple of Heaven, Beijing

The only advantage working for my company is that I get to travel once in a while. Took this picture when I went to Beijing last year. It was mid April but the weather was unexpectedly very cold and one part of Beijing was covered in snow. And the sky was always 'yellow' because of the sand storm. I was lucky to have captured this picture as it was the only day the sky is blue during my entire week there.

Torn

Torn

I drafted this post yesterday night. Initially I wanted to talk about how my aunt likes gardening and so does Dom Dom. Whenever I bring Dom Dom to aunt's house; she will wreak every single vegetation reachable except the above picture.
But right now this picture describe my feeling.

Schöner Brunnen ("Beautiful Fountain")

D40, F/4.5, 1/60s, 18mm,
Schöner Brunnen

("Beautiful Fountain")
This is Nurnbergs most famous fountain. The fountain is built to look like the top of a church tower. On the fountain is a metal ring rigged to the grating that is said to be a good luck charm (you have to rotate it 360 degrees and make a wish which I did. Hahaha).

I really have no idea what is this. It doesn't look like a flower, more like cauliflower.

Cappuccino

Cappuccino

The Germans are good at almost everything, don't you think? My boss said they always over engineered. I don't really agree because the way I see it, they really put their 'heart' into their work.

Morning Glory Flower

D40, F/5.6, 1/400s, 55mm,
Morning Glory Flower

I still remember when I was in primary school, there were tones of morning glory surrounding the school compound. I would pluck them and then throw at the girls. Hahaha. But as I grow older, it is becoming harder to spot this species of flower. I took this picture at the Lake Garden last year while bringing my German colleague around.

Duck

D40, F/5.6, 1/200s, 55mm,
Duck

Trekking along the mountain pass at Sapa presented me with multiple chances to use my camera. From the rice terrace to water fall, things here are naturally breathtaking. Here is a pair of duck taking a break from the daily hustle and just sitting there enjoying the scenery. Now that is what I call LIFE.

Butterfly

D40, F/5.6, 1/400s, 55mm,
Butterfly

I took this during the Pangkor Island Company Trip. From afar I looked like an idiot chasing the butterfly but my effort paid off when I managed to get a picture I desire. No alteration on the photo except cropping and resizing.

Firework - Malaysia International Firework Competition (MIFC)

This is my second time taking firework. My first try produce very bad photo. Did a lot of readup and many tries and errors before producing several 'okay' photos. This is from Team Italy. I think their firework is the best... Too bad they lost

My colleagues in Hong Kong brought me to this bakery nearby the office 'allegedly' famous for their egg tart. Well, if you think the picture looks 'delicious', wait till you try it. Heavenly

Lorenzkirche (Church of St. Lorenz)

D40, F/4.5, 1/640s, 18mm,
Lorenzkirche (Church of St. Lorenz)

During my last visit to Nurnberg, I have the chance to visit the Old City. One will never miss the Church of St. Lorenz because of 'twin tower'. This church suffered severe damage during the WWII but has since been restored to its medieval state.

Yellow Roses

D40, F/5.6, 1/320s, 55mm,
Yellow Roses

Roses are red,
Violet are blue,
But this one yellow,
And it means 'I love you.'
Bahh....

Updated
Roses are red,
Violet are blue,
Someone commented,
My poem is dreadful

Roses are red,
Violet are blue,
Someone commented,
It looks more white than yellow.

Roses are red,
Violet are blue,
Inevitable said,
Two of you memang tak tahu.

Bukit Merah Iguana

D40, F/7.1, 1/200s, 50mm,
Bukit Merah Iguana

Located in Bukit Merah Laketown Resort, lies the Ecopark. Even though this iguana looked fiery but the fact is, they are very calm animal. He is as steady as rock even though my lens is less than a foot away.

Junk at Halong Bay

D40, F/5.6, 1/1600s, 55mm,
Junk at Halong Bay

It was nearing dust when I took this picture. Using a high ISO produces a photo with visible dust on it but after converting it to sepia; I like the feel of this photo. Nostalgic!

Green

D40, F/6.3, 1/640s, 55mm,
Green

I always love green. They don't really mean much when it is seen with our eye but whenever I see picture of green vegetation in my computer, they looked so vibrant. No wonder green colour is recommended for those with poor eyesight such as people like me. Hehe

Grandma

D40, F/5.0, 1/30s, 38mm,
My Grandma

Every Chinese New Year, the family will go back to the grandma's place, in Gombak. She is going to be 80 soon. And ever since she fell down at the porch 5 years ago, she is unable to move. Now everyday she sits at her chair and looks at the TV or look outside the window.
She always mistakenly took me as my father, probably due to the resemblance of me and my dad. Whenever I look at her, my tear feels like dropping but I always hold on to it. Recalling when I was younger, I always make her scream at me because I always climbed up the rambutan tree and plucked those still 'raw' fruits. Now that the rambutan tree is gone and no longer can her voice be heard from afar, I really miss those time.
Grandma, I Love You.

Sunset at Tioman Island

D40, F/5.6, 1/30s, 55mm,

Took this picture during my trip to Tioman. Rather than just taking a plain sunset picture, I tried taking one with people in it to make the photo more 'lively'

My manager's wedding

Canon EOS 5D, F/1.8, 1/200s, 85mm,
My manager's wedding

Took this picture last Sunday night at MO. It was my manager's wedding. My colleague from Hong Kong lend me his 5D and I am very very impressive with the fast 85mm f/1.2 prime lens. That lens itself cost more than 7K here in Malaysia!!! If I only I could afford such a thing.

Dom Dom posing ala "The Dog" pose

D40, F/5.6, 1/40s, 18mm,
Dom Dom aka Wisdom

I took this picture of her last week. I was playing with my camera when she came and disturbed me. So I made her stand still and took a couple of shots. Both shots came out not that as sharp as I wanted because I was not looking into the viewfinder. And I think my camera was positioned too close to her and failed to focus on the area I wanted which is the nose.

Pangkor Island Beach Resort

D40, f/4.5, 1/30s, 18mm
Pangkor Island Beach Resort

Photo taken in my room during last year company trip. I like this photo because it gives me the 'commercial feel' seen in hotel advertisement. Heh...

"A photo a day..."

"A photo a day..."

This is a really long overdue project. The fact is, I have been toying with this idea since early last year but I always managed to find excuses not to start it.

Ever since I got my first digital camera, Canon Powershot A70 and subsequently a Nikon D40, I have been on the learning curve of taking photograph. As of today, I have registered more than 10k clicks on my D40 alone. Well, it is not a lot but for someone (as lazy as) like me, it quite an achievement.

Well... knowing me, I really hope and pray that I can keep my promise of posting a photo a day.
