This woman here is from the Black Hmong minority in Sapa. She is in fact my local tour guide’s mum. I was in Vietnam during Christmas last year and went to a few places namely Hanoi, Halong Bay and Sapa. Out of these places, I love Sapa the most. The cool temperatures with their friendly and conversant people are really a great company to be with. For nature lover, this is the place for you. You get to see terrace and terrace of paddy fields, incredible mountain view and some really nice waterfalls. Livestock such as pig, horses and cattle wander freely and greet you with their reeking whiff
Too bad the place is getting touristy as I write now but still this is one the place one must visit to truly see how diversified Vietnam is!

I enjoyed the trek to Ta Phin Village very much. It's simply breathtaking and peaceful with less tourists. The views of the rice terraces on the trek to the village were amazing.
The Red Dao people are very wonderful and welcoming. I came and went on the day so could not stay one night with the locals. But I will try it next time.
